Winds of Change

“When the winds of change blow ~ some build walls; others build windmills.”

~ancient Chinese proverb

…”the answer,my friend, is blowin’ in the wind…

~ Bob Dylan

Now is the time to remember the old songs of change and challenge.  Not tomorrow or some distant day. Now is the time to stand up for what is right and just and sacred.

I have walked this journey of change for many years ~ perhaps with you ~ writing, reading, questioning, searching, learning, giving, hoping, wondering ~ Stopping to breathe the life-giving winds of change that challenge me to step forward into them, releasing my path to the guidance of a force greater than all the world we know.

Look carefully at our world. Please. Now is the time to open minds – not just emotional hearts – but intelligent, rational, compassionate, courageous minds. Now is the time ~ amidst the constant winds of change ~ in this country and the next ~ to enact our ability, right and responsibility to make positive choices.

“The influence you exert is through your own life, and what you become of yourself.”

~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Amidst the loud anger, vulgarity and hurtful speech of politicians and would-be leaders ~ NOW is the time to stand up for all that is just, kind and compassionate. Now is the time to ignore aggressive passion and look to the voice of reason and love.

Pope Francis recently taught our world, through prayer and example:

“Build bridges ~ not walls.”

I challenge you ~all who are reading this ~ to follow & support the leaders who build bridges between people, between all lands, all lives. As Gandhi proposed: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”  Do you want peace and compassion in this entire world? Then look beyond fear. When the winds of change blow through & around you ~ become a part of their powerful challenge, and know what it means to really live.
