The earth does not belong to man ~ Man belongs to the earth. This we know: All things are connected. ~ CHIEF SEATTLE (1855)
The following photos were taken throughout the past year, on the Oregon coast. Most mornings offer beautifully clean beaches; however, some days the debris is strewn for miles along the coast. When it is not present on our beach, it has simply desecrated another space somewhere else. If WE do not care for the earth, who will? There are many “angels” who daily bring garbage bags on their peaceful walks, and carry back the refuse and abuse of others, carrying a burden which grows ever more dangerous and ponderous. There are also many others who walk away with an attitude of denial or resignation to the enormity of the task. WHO will care for the gift of this planet, if it is not US?
WE SHARE THIS LIFE, THIS LAND,THIS WATER, THIS AIR.
“OH EARTH! YOU’RE TOO WONDERFUL FOR ANYONE TO REALIZE YOU!” ~ Emily, from OUR TOWN by Thornton Wilder
